Cancer Of The Penis

Penile health is something that all men should be concerned with.

Men have only one penis and since there is no known method for transplant at this time, there is no chance of getting a second shot at life if you do not take care of the penis that you have.

So you should take note of all the issues that surround the penis from a medical stand point and learn of ways to make sure that nothing happens.

While it is true that many men are not even aware of the fact that they have a problem until it is too late, there is a reason why you should be aware of the things that are happening.

While it may not be the most fun thing to do, you should always seek the attention of a doctor if something is just not right. Prevention and early detection are the keys to a positive outcome from most of the diseases and disorders that can strike the penis.

Letting things go and eventually spread will only mean that you are running the risk of losing more than you bargained for. Always make sure that you are under the care of a doctor for all things relating to the penis. This includes anything that causes pain, burning or an odd mass on the penis or nearby area.

Most of the conditions that affect the penis can be treated, but you do not want to tie the doctors hands. If you let them go and allow them to spread then you may be signing the death warrant for your penis. Penis cancer is one of the most dangerous of all the diseases that can affect the penis.

There are many risk factors for penis cancer and some of them are completely preventable. One such risk factor is circumcision. A recent study shows that men who are not circumcised run a much greater risk of developing penis cancer.

The researchers are not exactly sure why this occurs but it may have something to do with the build up of organisms in the foreskin. These organisms can lead to the development of malignant cells that will continue to grow into cancer. A cause of penis cancer is also being linked to HPV or the human papillomavirus.

This virus is known to be sexually transmitted and has been connected to several types cancer, including penis cancer. This virus is present in over sixty percent of all patients who are positively diagnosed with penis cancer. There is very little in the way of symptoms of this type of cancer.

The most common outward sign of penis cancer is growths or sores that appear on the shaft or head of the penis. There is also the possibility of abnormal discharge from the penis. This discharge will have a highly foul smell and be a strange color. It is important to note that this symptom can also be a sign of certain STD's as well.

If any of the symptoms occur you should seek medical attention right away. Your chances of survival are much greater if you are diagnosed early.
